Should You Rely Heavily on Bio or Profile Sites?

Internet reputation management relies on strategies that would put truthful or positive posts, sites or information about your name, company or brand on top of search engine results and beat negative or defamatory items against you from appearing in search engine front pages. There are lots of ways to do this, many of which are tedious and would take normal search engine cycles to occur.

Some companies and PR firms however, in a bid to protect their online reputation, would want to speed things up and heavily post or put up information about their profession, company or brand on various bio or profile sites or what are termed diversion sites in search engine optimization lingo. Such sites include Squidoo lenses, Wordpress blogs, LinkedIn Profiles and Naymz profiles. These are high ranking websites that can have the biggest chances in appearing at the first pages of search engine results.

The problem however is that the information placed in such diversion sites are usually the same and is primarily intended for advertising purposes. People wanting to search more about you may find all the information in these diversion sites basically the same and would eventually turn to more search engine results pages to get more information. This is where the trouble would all begin.

The next few pages may include the negative and defamatory posts about you or your product which can all ruin your online reputation just like that. That’s why relying too much on diversion sites may not be beneficial to your online reputation management efforts in the long run. Good internet reputation companies know this and would utilize other ways of providing good, relevant and diverse content related to you or your product on top of the materials provided in diversion sites. Used in conjunction with these diversion sites, this wide array of positive materials about you would eventually overcome all efforts by negative materials to rise to the top.
